Set on over 44 scenic acres in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, this village of six guest houses surrounds a lovely limestone spring. Enjoy views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, manicured gardens and grounds, a summertime swimming pool, trails through the pasture and woods, and a small herd of Holstein cattle.
Accommodations range from elegant rooms in the gracious 200 year old Manor House to cozy rooms in a charming 1850’s log house. For the ultimate in seclusion, stay in one of our private one-bedroom cottages: a converted artist’s studio at the water’s edge, or a re-purposed art gallery with views of the meadow, or a tobacco-barn-turned-luxury-cabin overlooking the spring valley. All rooms have fireplaces, private baths with Jacuzzi tubs, and king or queen beds.
Dine at the inn Tuesday through Saturday evenings and experience outstanding contemporary American cuisine without leaving the grounds. The romantic candle-lit dinners at Vaucluse are not to be missed. In the morning, the full 3-course breakfast changes with the season’s availability (from our own early spring watercress to local late fall apples), but always includes locally roasted Black Dog Coffee and local farm fresh eggs.
Activities in our area range from strolling through charming Old Town Winchester to experiencing Shenandoah National Park to visiting our local wineries. We are happy to help you plan your stay.
Rates: Rates are quoted double occupancy, per night. A gourmet three-course breakfast is included. All rooms have central air and heat, private baths and fireplaces (seasonal).
Guaranteeing a reservation: Reservations must be guaranteed by an advance deposit, either by MasterCard, or Visa. When a credit card is used, it is processed at that time. The deposit is equal to one night’s stay or half the total stay; whichever is greater.
Cancellations: Refunds, less a $25 processing fee, will be made if notice of cancellation is received at least 7 days before the date of arrival. Otherwise, deposits are not refundable unless the room is re-booked. Deposits are not transferable to another date unless the change is requested 7 days in advance of your stay. You are welcome to send a friend or family member in your place. Group reservations will have a custom cancellation policy.
Dinner reservations require 72-hour advance notice of cancellation. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the reservation may be charged a cancellation fee equal to half of the meal price.
Minimum Reservations: Two-night minimum stay is required on weekends. Exceptions for non-holiday weekends: December through March. Other times of year, feel free to call to check availability for a single night weekend stay.
Payment: Payment for all accommodation and incidental charges must be made upon check-out (less deposit taken).
Visitors, Room Damage & General Behavior: In order to preserve the tranquil nature of our Inn and to respect the privacy and experience of all guests, only registered overnight guests and those with dinner reservations are allowed on the grounds. We may make exceptions, however this would need to be cleared in advance with the owners/establishment. We strive to provide a peaceful environment and a restful night sleep, so we greatly appreciate observance of quiet hours after 10:00pm. All deliberate or reckless acts that result in any damage to our property and any costs associated will be charged to the registered guest.
Smoking: The Inn is a NON-SMOKING inn.
Children: Children 12 and older are welcome.
Check-in/out: Check-in is from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. If you will arrive after 5:00pm, please let us know your anticipated arrival time, so that we may make arrangements for you to get easily and safely to your room. Check-ins are not allowed after 10pm as to not disturb other neighboring guests.
