1. Echo Mountain Ski Resort
Just 35 miles away in Idaho Springs, Echo Mountain is the closest ski resort to Denver. It has a vertical drop of 660 feet and averages 250 inches of snowfall each year. Visitors to the park can explore 15 trails as well as a terrain park, free-ride terrain, and various rails and jumps. Echo is also one of only two resorts in Colorado to offer night skiing. The resort opens in mid-December and stays open until late April or early May.
2. Loveland Ski Area
Looking for a popular local's mountain? Head to Loveland Ski Area. It’s located about 53 miles from Denver at the Loveland Pass on I-70. With a base elevation of 10,800 feet, it’s important that visitors spend a day getting used to the elevation before visiting. Loveland is perfect for advanced skiers and snowboarders and offers 93 trails on 1,570 acres. This area also receives over 400 inches of snowfall per year and has one of the longest ski seasons in the state, opening in October and closing mid-May.
3. Winter Park Ski Resort
Winter Park Ski Resort is owned by the city of Denver and is less than an hour drive from downtown. With 3,060 acres of well-groomed trails, Winter Park is an ideal destination for beginners and experts alike. Those with more experience will love the long, steep runs of Mary Jane, and intermediates can enjoy awesome powder skiing in the Parsenn Bowl. The resort is usually open from mid-November to mid-April.
Romantic RiverSong Bed and Breakfast Inn
