Even though the Natchez Tricentennial technically lands on August 3rd, 2016, this little city is celebrating with events throughout the year. Over the last couple hundred of years, Natchez, Mississippi has become a diverse melting pot of Native American, African-American, and European cultures. One history filled exhibition not to miss is "From Grand Village Bluff City: 300 Years of Natchez History" at the LSU Hill Memorial Library. This free Natchez Tricentennial event will take place on June 13 - September 3, 2016. Another interesting event to catch is "They Equip Themselves Like Warriors": The Natchez Fort Site at Battleground Plantation, Sicily Island, LA at the Grand Village of Natchez Indians. 2. Experience the city's history on foot with a Natchez Walking Tour
Learn more about the city's vibrant past with a 1.5-hour walking tour of some of its best historic buildings. You'll see several beautiful churches, Memorial Park, 100+ structures on the National Historic Register, the old Adams County Jail, and more! Tickets for the Natchez Walking Tours are $25.
