From beaches, to cities, there is a perfect place to visit for everyone.  When choosing where to go for Memorial Day weekend, be sure to consider what you want to do on your trip as well as how far away you want to travel.  We've come up with a few suggestions on where to go for Memorial Day weekend, but there are so many great places with Select Registry properties that would be ideal for this holiday.  To get your mind in planning mode, consider these suggestions for where to go for Memorial Day weekend.

Washington DC

To honor and appreciate what Memorial Day is really about, head to the United States' Capital city. Visit memorials and monuments like the Vietnam Memorial, the World War II Memorial , and Arlington National Cemetery. The National Mall is a wonderful place to spend some time walking around for a while. DC is also the ideal place to get in touch with American history, with several Smithsonian Institution museums open to the public.

California Beaches

California is known for having gorgeous beaches. While southern California, or So Cal, gets the most credit for having beautiful stretches of sand, destinations a bit farther north also have plenty of great beaches full of charm and enchantment. Try visiting Santa Barbara's El Capitan Beach, Mendocino's Glass Beach, or Half Moon Bay State Beach outside of San Francisco.

Florida Beaches

If you want to hit the beach, but you're closer to the East Coast, then Florida has your name all over it.  Miles of sandy coastline await those looking to kick off the summer in an all-American way at Florida beaches. The number of Florida beaches worth visiting is astounding. These include: Key West, West Palm Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Flagler Beach, St. Augustine, and Amelia Island.

Charleston, SC

While it can be considered a beach town, Charleston has a lot more to offer visitors (not that the beaches aren't great!). The city is full of American history and many of its buildings and sites will take you back in time. Downtown is prime shopping territory, and a carriage ride around the city with an expert guide will give you an insight to the past and present of this beautiful southern city. Be sure to bring an appetite for amazing southern cuisine as well!

Cape Cod, MA

The summer season kicks off in this region in Massachusetts during the holiday, so it's a great option for where to go for Memorial Day weekend. The collection of towns on Massachusetts coast boast quaint villages, beautifully rugged New England beaches, and tons of charm. Fresh seafood is another reason to head to Cape Cod over Memorial Day weekend. You can't go wrong with a fried seafood basket or even a lobster roll when visiting Cape Cod.
