It all started with the first festival back in March 2007. More than 10,000 attendees have met more than a dozen international award-winning cheesemakers over the years, learning how to taste, buy, serve and enjoy distinctive artisan cheeses from experts. The Artisan Cheese Festival is the first-ever weekend-long celebration and exploration of handcrafted cheeses, foods, wines and beers from California and beyond. Cheesemakers, experts, chefs and fromagiers from across the country will teach educational seminars, and let’s not forget about the tastings and/or pairings of artisan cheeses. The festival will bring together a wide variety of artisan cheeses from California and beyond with their artisan bread, food, wine and beer complements.
The mission of the festival is to educate people who want to learn more about artisan cheese, support the artisan cheesemaking community and its sustainability, and celebrate and enjoy the creations of the artisan cheesemakers. Of course, it’s also about FUN!
On Friday, March 21, you can take part in farm tours and a lunch, then meet the cheesemakers and their cheeses. Seminars, cooking and pairing demos will kick off on Saturday, followed by the Grand Cheese Tasting. This popular roaming feast will showcase top, local, Bay-area chefs using artisan cheeses in a variety of dishes from sweet to savory. There will be more than 20 top restaurants, caterers, wineries, and breweries involved in the competition!
Then on Sunday a cooking demo and sparkling wine brunch will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will include a glass of bubbly and an artisan cheese-inspired sit-down brunch. The weekend will wrap up at the Artisan Cheese Tasting and Marketplace from 12 to 4 p.m., where you can meet more than 70 artisan producers and experience the best of local cheese, wine, beer and specialty foods. Pick up new recipes, tips and tricks.
Your ticket includes admission, access to chef demos and author book signings, the Artisan Cheese Festival insulated cheese tote bag and a festival wine glass.
