Warm weather has finally arrived and with it, your summer vacation! When planning your getaway, it can be difficult determining where you would like to go. Mount Storm Lake WV offers visitors a place to swim, speed on a boat, sail in the warm summer breeze, kayak around the waters edge, Jet Ski, or just relax on the banks! Located in the rugged Allegheny Mountains of northeastern West Virginia, the lake offers a picturesque view of some of the best scenery in the east. The 1,200-acre lake, built to serve the power station, is open to the public for recreation. The lake is 3,100 feet elevation above sea level and expands across 3,244 feet of land.
When swimming in Mount Storm Lake, you do not have to worry about the temperature being too hot or too cool. The power station, located right next to Mount Storm, pulls water from the lake and circulates it through the station. This process raises the temperature of the water. In the winter, when it is typically below freezing, the water seldom goes below 60 degrees. The lake is the perfect year-round destination for scuba divers, boaters, and fishermen. When swimming at Mount Storm, make sure that you are in the appropriate area.
Scuba diving is a fun option for those intrigued by what lurks under the water. To start your diving excursion, make your way to the launched pontoon or other suitable boat, away from the boat launch area. This is to ensure your safety!
Hook your boat up and pack the car full for a fun day out on the lake. The lake has an easy access area to launch your boat, allowing for your day to be even more relaxing. Speed around Mount Storm and breath in the crisp, fresh air! Don’t forget to pack your tube and water skis!
A fun and relaxing way to experience the lake is by paddling along it in your kayak. With miles of shoreline to explore, take a day and discover all the neat places along the lake from your kayak or canoe! Another fantastic thing to do on the lake is sailing. Take your sailboat to one of the boat landings and soak in the hot, afternoon sunshine!
Mount Storm is great not only for daytime activities but also for a nighttime excursion. Late at night, the lake glows like the sun, and the lights from the power station create a magical picture!
