The Mississippi River

Alamo Theatre

The Alamo Theatre has evolved from a western and African-American film establishment to a place that hosts historic artists like B.B. King and Nat King Cole. It’s Mississippi’s own not-for-profit theatre, serving the Historic Farish Street District for over 70 years.

Old Capitol Museum

You can tour the grand dam of Mississippi politics and view dioramas and exhibits that trace the city’s history at the Old Capitol Museum. The building that served the state from 1823 to 1903 also includes a large collection of Jefferson Davis memorabilia.

Mississippi Symphony Orchestra

Experience the world of live classical and popular symphonic music at the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. It’s the largest professional performing arts organization in the state.

Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame

If you’re a sports gal or guy, this is a must to add to your list. Tour the museum, which recalls Dizzy Dean and other sports greats.

Jackson Zoo

There’s so much to do at the Jackson Zoo. It houses monkeys, large cats and more than 250 other types of animals. There’s also a carousel and concessions!

Russell C Davis Planetarium

Here you can be wowed by giant stars, glowing planets and distant galaxies! It’s all shown on a giant wrap-around screen. This is one of the largest planetariums in the south.

Jackson Grove Park Golf Course

Make time for some golf on your trip. The Jackson Grove Park Golf Course is located at 1800 Walter Dutch Welch Drive in Jackson, MS.
