The Mansion Hill Inn, nestled on the edge of Lake Mendota, is an elegant 9,000 square foot Victorian bed and breakfast, situated three blocks from the state capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin. Built in 1857, the Mansion Hill Inn is one of four remaining Victorian mansions in an exclusive neighborhood known locally as Big Bug Hill. The Mansion Hill Inn is not a typical downtown hotel. It’s a graceful Victorian home away from home.
The ornate exterior of the Mansion Hill Inn proudly exhibits the original wrought iron on the balconies, buttresses, and arched windows. Passing through the front door, guests walk into the graceful marble covered foyer accented with etched Venetian glass windows, and hand carved marble fireplaces in the parlor and bar. An oval shaped mahogany spiral staircase winds up through the four stories of the mansion to the belvedere, where guest can enjoy the panoramic view.
The hotel offers 10 luxury accommodations with amenities including original wood floors, floor to ceiling windows, brick fireplaces, private balconies, and access to the veranda and garden. The Madison Inn serves a complimentary breakfast and has an extensive wine cellar for the pleasure of the guests. Just a few amenities the Inn provides are flat screen televisions, in-room gas fireplaces, spa and fitness center, massage services, and luxurious whirlpool tubs. Wedding, events, and meeting accommodations, are presented in charming elegance of days gone by.
