This organization has been around for many years and has stood the test of time. In fact, the latest edition of the Association guidebook continues a tradition that began over 30 years ago with the pioneering travel guide, Country Inns and Back Roads, by Norman Simpson, "the Father of Country Inn travel in America." Credited with single-handedly founding an industry in America, Simpson brought together a select group of innkeepers, originally organized as the Independent Innkeepers' Association, dedicated to principles of hospitality, quality, romance and fine food. Today, the Association continues to provide unforgettable introductions to exceptional Inns, Bed and Breakfast Inns, and unique small hotels as Select Registry, Distinguished Inns of North America.
Since 1972, millions of copies of our Association travel guide directory have been printed and distributed by innkeepers throughout North America. These books have an extended shelf life, and many are still being used by travelers. This year, over 400,000 new guidebooks will be printed and distributed, making ours the largest such referral program and publication of its kind in the travel industry.
