Discover Select Registry's B&Bs, Inns, and Hotels

Select Registry was founded on the premise that overnight lodging should be unique, authentic, and original, and provide guests with genuine warmth, outstanding hospitality, and exceptional service. In the late 1960s, Norman Simpson, known as the “father of country inn travel in America,” wrote Country Inns and Back Roads, a travel companion including a compilation of his favorite B&Bs and inns, primarily in the New England region. He noted that:

"Each is original and unique, a reflection of the personalities and tastes of the individual innkeeperowners this was never intended to be a total guide to country inns in the United States and Canada, [but rather] a carefully selected group of inns. The purpose is to encourage travelers to visit and to experience this unique type of personal hospitality."

With the success of Simpson's book, a non-profit organization called the Independent Innkeepers Association was formed... this eventually evolved into Select Registry. Today's organization boasts more than 300 of the finest bed and breakfasts, inns, and hotels throughout North America — the very best the lodging industry has to offer. Each property has passed an unannounced, comprehensive, rigorous, 200-point quality assurance inspection to earn and maintain its Select Registry membership, and to ensure it provides travelers with guaranteed quality, exceptional service, and an unforgettable lodging experience.

In an increasingly impersonal world, a warm welcome, an innkeeper’s smile, a well-prepared and sociable meal, a well-appointed and impeccably-clean room, and so many other experiences are what set our properties apart from other lodging. We know you have thousands of accommodation options when you travel...

Don’t just book... SELECT.
