Innkeeper Profile - Windham Hill Inn

Joe and Marina ConeenyOwnership of Windham Hill fulfills the life-long dream for Marina and Joe Coneeny - to combine lifestyle and work in an extended family environment that includes staff and guests. Their dream began to form shortly after graduating from Middlebury College in 1980. A permanent return to Vermont was always going to be the reward for a few years of toil in the big cities (New York and London). Those few years turned into 22 years, and in the end a small B&B concept evolved into this elegant country inn, which they purchased in July 2002.

Prior to jumping into inn ownership, Marina worked in the specialty food (Dean & Deluca) and catering business, and in middle market banking. Concurrently, she handled with Joe the renovation and improvement of several antique houses, and acquired skills relevant to the running of a country inn. Since 1989, she had been holding down the fort with children Meagan and Ted while Joe had been collecting frequent flier miles and sleep deficits.

Joe spent his professional life in finance, first lending to oil and gas companies in the U.S. and in Europe, then doing the same and more for media and telecommunications companies in the 1990's. He "retired" in April 2001, and spent nine months seeing his family every day as well as indulging his passions for golf, cooking, and wine collecting. He did not see an airport for six months!

Yellow Labradors Rosie, Pippa, and Maggie serve as honorary greeters, friends, and pets-away-from-pets for guests missing their pups at home. You'll see them bounding about the grounds and swimming in Frog Pond, but not indoors, which is limited to two-legged creatures.
