We are Peter & Susan, owners and innkeepers, and we invite you to our historic 1850's home in the Mad River Valley. Come and enjoy four glorious seasons for romance, relaxation and recreation. We provide the finest comfort, hospitality and food, and we offer a personal concierge service for all our guests to help you get the very best from your visit to the area.
West Hill House is an Award winning B&B located on a quiet country road nestled in a hillside forest, surrounded by its gorgeous perennial gardens. The Inn is the perfect choice for a quiet, comfortable central location for a multi-day visit to all the scenery, attractions and activities of central Vermont.
West Hill House is just one mile from Sugarbush skiing and golf and seven miles from Mad River Glen. We are in the midst of the Vermont countryside, yet just minutes from the shops, artisans and marvelous restaurants of Warren and Waitsfield, Vermont in the heart of the Mad River Valley.
Our favorite guest book note reads: "West Hill House brings the best of British and Canadian hospitality to one of the most charming US states". Come and stay with us to see for yourself! Our cats Smoky and Snowball look forward to joining us in welcoming you.

Start your day with a wonderful Breakfast. Each morning our guests enjoy a full, hot breakfast which is served usually in our dining room at our mid-century 12 person dining table. On warm days in summer brekakfast is sometimes server outside on the canopied Garden Terrace. During ski season breakfast is served at 8:00 AM, and during the rest of the year breakfast is at 8:30 AM.
Our sumptuous three-course breakfast starts with fruit juice, home made sweet breads or muffins and a specially prepared fruit dish. A tantalizing hot entrée is then presented to you to give your taste buds an early morning treat. The menu of the day might include Sweet Pepper Scrambled Eggs, Breakfast Casserole, Ginger Pancakes with Lemon Sauce, Pain Perdu (French Toast) with local Mad River Valley Maple Syrup, Asparagus filled Crêpes or Granny's Cheesey Soufflé.
Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are always available at the dining room beverage nook, and afternoon snacks are ready for you when you return from your day of skiing or exploring. Raiding the cookie jar is encouraged!
We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with The Common Man, one of the best restaurants in Central Vermont and just over a mile from the B&B, to offer a special inclusive price for dinner on the evening(s) of your choice when you book a stay at West Hill House.
This special is available on the evenings that the restaurant is open, which are usually Tuesdays to Saturdays. Dinner will be your selection of 3 courses from the wide ranging menu, along with tea or coffee. (Some date restrictions apply, and dinner must be reserved when you book your room.) The Common Man has always been at the top of our list as a great place for our guests to have dinner, and with this offer we are making it even easier for you to enjoy their great food and excellent service.
We also recommend several other excellent restaurants nearby for dinner.
Our bar offers a selection of Vermont beers, a varied cellar of wines from around the world, and in our Quaich Bar we offer a selection of Single Malt Scotch and liquers after dinner.
Please note that kitchen facilities are not available for guests at West Hill House. With the many great restaurants nearby, including take-out which you are welcome to eat in one of our common rooms, this should not be a limitation for any of our guests.

More about our meetings services

Let us help you plan the celebration of your dreams at West Hill House Bed and Breakfast, a beautiful spot for your special day.
It is our goal to do all in our power to help you have a happy wedding day, one that you will have fond memories of 25 years down the road! With this goal in mind, we will work with you to personalize your event and to accommodate your wishes. We book only 6 large events (up to 80 guests) per summer/autumn season so that we can provide you with personal attention and assistance to help you have a memorable and stress free celebration.
For the couple that prefers a quiet celebration with just the two of you, we also offer everything you need for a beautiful and memorable wedding with our Elopement package, and we also offer packages for any size of celebration from 2 to 80 guests.
Please call or email us to request our Celebration Packet which provides full details of how we can help you make your special day a memorable occasion at West Hill House. Please include the month and year you plan to marry, the approximate number of guests you are expecting, and your contact details.
As your guests come up our quiet country lane to West Hill House, a beautiful 1850's home, they will be surrounded by the beauty and serenity of the Green Mountains. We're just a little bit off the beaten path, yet close to everything.
Our nine peaceful acres with beautiful perennial gardens, birch gazebo, meadows and ornamental ponds provide a lovely setting for weddings, civil unions and receptions. To create the perfect wedding, all that is needed is your personal touch: food, flowers, candles, music, friends and family. We do ask that you book the whole Inn for the weekend of your event, or for the night of the event if it is arranged for a weekday.
Depending on the size of the group and the season, we offer the use of the inn, its canopied deck, or our handsome red barn. We normally work with our preferred caterer, Spice of Life, located here in the Mad River Valley. You can rely on their food, professionalism, attention to detail and integrity. The teamwork between ourselves and Spice of Life will make your planning seamless. Weddings can also be catered by one of our other recommended caterers if you prefer.
West Hill House is able to provide in-house catering for groups of 30 or less, and for weddings taking place at West Hill House we offer on-site catering for Rehearsal Dinners and "First Morning" Brunches for up to 30 guests. We are state licensed for the sale of beer and wine.
The inn features three large common areas, an elegant country dining room, and eight queen or twin/king bed guestrooms with fireplaces and air conditioning. All guest rooms have private ensuite baths with Jacuzzi tubs or steam showers.
We can call on an extensive group of other members of the Mad River Valley Association of Wedding Professionals to provide whatever services you need, from the JP for the ceremony to the wedding cake, even to the style of forks you decide to eat your cake with! Also we will be happy to recommend nearby inns for your other guests.
Be sure to check out the legal requirements that apply for Weddings in the state of Vermont. In general there are few formalities.

Summer Picnic Treat. Watermelon is the quintessential summer fruit so of course it had to be included in this menu for a cool and crisp summer salad, but watermelon with a twist.
