We have set the new standard for the contemporary Napa California Bed and Breakfast Inn.  Not only with whirlpool tubs and gas fireplaces in every room, but with the food.

We have tailored breakfast to those who want a cuisines that is innovative and fun, daily offering one of the 125 recipes for breakfast, such as Corndog Omelets, Ricotta-Chipotle PopTarts with Berry-Jalapeno Jam, or S’mores French Toast with house made Marshmallow Fluff and Chocolate Maple Syrup.  And most exciting of all: we keep track of what you eat when you visit to ensure a new and different breakfast with each visit.

We also accommodate food allergies and work to bring innovative cuisine to Vegans, Vegetarians, and guests who might be Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, or simply Flexitarians.

We removed all televisions so that you can enjoy intimacy of conversation with each other, or a game of chess or cards while sipping on Prager Port provided in the living room with Jim's famous chocolate chunk cookies.   YES, WiFi is available for those who feel they must stay connected to the outside world, but our hope is that you will learn to leave all that aside to enjoy great Napa bed and breakfast hospitality here at the inn and at the wineries.

As a gay-owned and operated inn we are happy to state that we are "straight-friendly" and welcome all here into our home.  We are in the heart of downtown historic Napa with access to 400 plus wineries in the valley, and Sonoma is just a 15-minute drive away.

More about our rooms

The Inn On First is redefining breakfast one dish at a time.

Our menu is designed each week to accommodate food allergies and dietary needs, ensuring a hot breakfast for each guest daily.

With over 125 breakfast recipes (Chef Jim has set a goal of 250 before retirement), each morning he puts out something new and exciting during your stay.  Better than that: with each successive visit he will offer something new as he keeps track of what you eat when you visit.

You should expect to help yourself between 8:30 a.m and 10 a.m. to fresh coffee, tea, orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, house-made granola, cereal and milk, and a house-made pastry at a sideboard.

When guests finish the first course they are served a hot entree at table.  A sampling of what to expect:

Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons and Poached Eggs

Breakfast Lasagna with house-made Pasta Noodles, scrambled eggs, house-made Sausage, Ricotta Cheese, Bacon, and a Roasted Tomato Sauce

Cornmeal Gorditas with house-made Chorizo Sausage, Tomatillo Sauce, and Poached Eggs with a Side Salad tossed with Cilantro Vinaigrette]

Napa's best bed and breakfast inn is the perfect place for that small intimate wedding. We only do on-site weddings when the whole inn is booked by your guests for a minimum of two nights.  The cost of the 10 rooms is included with the package, and includes one extra bed that can be accommodated in one of our largest suites.  Thus we are limited to 21 people total, including the bride and groom.  We provide you with a wedding coordinator to help plan your day.   With unlimited phone and email support 2 months prior to the date she will ensure your day is trouble-free, will help you obtain your Napa County license, as well as provide on-site day-of coordination services.  You can select from her a la carte menu of options if you would like her to arrange photography, flowers, cake, or a musician, such as a solo harpist or guitarist. You are welcome to utilize the sound system for your listening pleasure.  The night of arrival we will provide a wine and cheese reception for you and your guests to enjoy in the living room or the outdoor patio (weather permitting).

We will put you in touch with a Presider who will help you plan out the ceremony that is just right for you, and who will officiate at the wedding on your special day.  At the end of the service you and your guests will be provided with a champagne toast .  The ceremony may take place as early as 11:00 a.m. and as late as 5:00 p.m.  You will then have use of the inn (dining room, living room foyer, and outdoor garden space) for a three-hour reception.   The ceremony and reception are both restricted to in-house guests only.  Our wedding coordinator will help you arrange an in-house catered reception, made available as part of her a la carte menu.
