The Coombs House Inn is a romantic Florida Bed and Breakfast in three elegant Historic Victorian Mansions. The Inn is located in the tranquil and unspoiled Florida's northwestern Gulf Coast just below the Panhandle's Emerald Coast in the charming seaside fishing village of Apalachicola and beachfront island of St. George. The Inn consists of the turn of the century 1900's " Mansion", the " Villas", and the " Veranda Suites" and the "Hemmingway Carriage House". Each of the combined 23 Guest Suites are filled with antiques, original oil paintings, oriental carpets from all over the world and gleaming hardwood floors and paneling with 12 foot high ceilings and 16 beautiful hand-carved original fireplaces. All of the rooms have private baths (of which 7 have luxurious whirlpool baths). Six of the guest quarters are 2 and 3 room suites, two of these have kitchenettes and 5 are with private verandas. Each room has private telephones (with free local calls), free internet, bath robes, in room individual coffee makers with Starbucks coffee and bottled spring water as well as flat screen cable TV's. Morning delicious breakfasts, afternoon fresh baked cookies and teas upon arrival, weekend wine tasting receptions, bicycles to use around town and use of beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for nearby St. George Island beaches are all complimentary benefits to your relaxing stay with us. All rooms open up onto large porch verandas shaded by large oak and palm trees, furnished with comfortable wicker furnishings, rocking chairs and paddle fans to enhance the fresh sea breezes.
The Coombs Inn on the “Forgotten Coast” is located in the heart of the historic district, where the Apalachicola River and Bay converge, with its sunset vistas and picturesques water views of shrimp and oyster boats and distant marshes. The Coombs Inn has 23 beautiful guest suites all with private baths. All our beautiful rooms are filled with antiques, paintings, oriental carpets on hard wood floors. Our rooms have 12' high ceilings, luxurious new bedding of Sealy Posturpedic pillow top mattresses and Egyptian cotton linenes, as well as large oversized windows or spaciou bay window seating . All the rooms have been individually decorated by our international award winning designer/owner Lynn Wilson, with no two rooms alike, offering the type of unique setting expected of this romantic retreat. Original fireplaces are in 13 of our rooms (#'s1,2,3,5,6,7,8,11,12,16,17,A, B) Jacuzzi Suites are in 7 of our rooms (#'s 8 ,A, B, C, 11, 17, 20) Several of our rooms are 2 room suites...A,B,C,D, all of which have private Verandas, as well as the Hemmingway Suite #20. Start your morning with in-room complimentary "Starbucks Coffee" and then your morning paper in our elegant original dining room of beautiful carved moldings, original rich wood paneling, and beautifully furnished. Enjoy your complimentary breakfast with a buffet of fruit and juices, yogurts and cereal, homemade muffins as well as a special breakfast dish made by our chef and innkeeper. Relax with more "Starbucks Coffee" and linger over an Architectural Digest or Veranda magazine or stroll onto the adjacent porch for a breathe of fresh air, sitting on our comfortable oversized wicker chairs or swing under our gently turning paddle fans. Later in the afternoon enjoy our homemade cookies and tea served daily from 3 to 5 . Complimentary as well is our wine tasting receptions on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 to 7 pm.
Our beautiful dining room hosts comfortable seating for parties of 20 people and is often used for romantic and private dinners as well as wedding parties. Adjacent to our dining room is our formal entry parlour with its fireplace, stately antiques and original oil paintings this dining room gives our guests a wonderful room to meet other guests or just to relax. For dining as well is our distinguished Camelia Gardens and Hall hosting up to 150 guests. This lovely area is frequently used for weddings, renewal of vows, family reunion dinner parties or corporate lunches, dinners and receptions of all kinds. Our resident chef can plan any menu and our Inn-house Concierge and Wedding services can make all the arrangements saving you money and time and effort. Camellia Hall and Gardens
The Coombs Inn "Camellia Hall" has a spacious meeting room that can seat up to 60 people for a business meeting or private parties. It's private location and quiet Garden surroundings are perfect for getting down to business or enjoying the company of your associates. The veranda and garden area are wonderful for breaks and can be used for additional seating or party areas. Luncheons and dinners can be arranged by our chef and meeting planner Concierge Services. Our Inn has hosted meetings for such clients as Riverkeepers, Florida Historic Foundation, Fish and Wildlife, Library PALS, St. Joe Company Board Meetings and Planning Retreats, Nikei Health Conferences, Ghost Trackers Workshops and numerous similar venues as well as meetings for Bank Auditors, Tax and Retirement Fund Planners, Family Reunions and Retreats and Art Workshops amongst the many others. Tables and chairs are complimentary as are the morning and afternoon coffee breaks. The Camelia Gardens are perfect cocktail reception and break-out areas as well as a quiet and peaceful retreat.

A wedding is one of life's magic moments to be lovingly shared with family and friends, and to be cherished forever in fond memory.The Coombs House Inn, with its nostalgic atmosphere of a more tranquil, by-gone era, provides just the right setting for this most important of family occasions. The Inn is located in the historic district of Apalachicola, established in 1831 at the mouth of the gently flowing Apalachicola River. Steamboat whistles once echoed along this river when cotton was brought down from plantations for transfer to sailing vessels bound for distant ports. Apalachicola boasts a wealth of antebellum houses and buildings which recall those prosperous day. Another era of prosperity around the turn of the century saw the construction of elegant Victorian homes including the Coombs Inn with its high ceilings, many fireplaces, paneled walls and gleaming hardwood floors. The Inn provides lavish accommodations for the entire wedding party including several romantic honeymoon suites with lavish four poster beds and luxurious jacuzzi baths, refrigerators for iced champagne and comfy robes to keep you relaxed
Camellia Hall and Gardens
Located adjacent to the Coombs"Villas" is Camellia Hall and Gardens , the Inn's spacious meeting room for groups or social events but especially , the perfect place for a memorable wedding and reception. The Gardens can accommodate a hundred and fifty to two hundred reception guests. The sit-down more formal luncheon or dinner reception up to 60 persons can be arranged by our Inn-house chef or Concierge planning services. Camelia Hall, formerly the original carriage house now beautiful restored opens with 6 French glass paned doors to our Victorian wedding Gazebo, Europeon statues and lush landscaping and lawns. For those who may prefer a church ceremony before the reception, the historic Methodist Church and 1836 Trinity Episcopal Church are next door. The handsome St. Patrick's Catholic Church is only a block away and the 100-year-old Baptist Church just up the street.
Beach Weddings
Whether you choose our elegant nostalgic traditional wedding or prefer our popular more casual "Beach Wedding" in our beachhouse on the nearby St. George's Island our' tying the knot' weddings are all part of our complimentary wedding planning services. Our "Poinciana Plantation" Beach Villa sleeps 10 but hosts 150 wedding guests for receptions to accompany a sand, sunset and sea experience that is unforgettably beautiful. Let us arrange the flowers, catering, music, limosene and all the necessary details for you in Beach Villa or a block away at the new Plantation Members Club and Pool. Our wedding packages will please you and our wedding location will truly be a memorable experience. Coombs Southern Strata
Our special signature breakfast dish is similar to Quiche. "Stratas" are baked daily with eggs, 2 cheeses (Monterey Jack & cheddar), potatoes, cream, & a variety of extras, such as bacon, ham, sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, yellow peppers, black olives, artichokes & more! Yummy! They are different every day.
Coombs Way Waffles
Quick and easy breakfast that you can make in your own home. The addition of special buckwheat flour and ground flaxseed give the extra healthy touch you are looking for. Chopped pecans or walnuts paired with the banana really make this recipe different. Use our own Coomb's Farm pancake/waffle mix and our delicious Coomb's Farm maple syrup both sold in our gift shop.
