Relax- Renew - Restore: Award winning Georgia Mountain hospitality and gourmet dining. Wine Enthusiast Magazine places Beechwood Inn in the Top 5 Destinations "for your next wine and food-focused escape," Dec 2011. Travel writer Becky Lamb says: "The Beechwood Inn is the closest thing to a Napa Valley Bed and Breakfast we have here in Georgia." Nestled among 100 year-old terraced gardens overlooking Black Rock Mountain, it is a place where all elements add up to a culinary and wine-oriented journey.
Come relax your mind, refresh your body, and rejuvenate your soul as we pamper you with affordable elegance. Each of our 8 guest room suites is individually decorated, most have fireplaces, private porches, mountain views and all have private baths. The inn's restaurant features a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence selection of vintages. The beautifully landscaped 5 acre property is also perfect for weddings, receptions, and group functions. The Inn is Eco-Friendly: Recycling Center, Non-Toxic Cleaning Agents, Low Carbon Footprint, Many Organic Local Foods and Native Plantings.
Beechwood Inn Bountiful Breakfast: Enjoy a wonderful gourmet breakfast each morning with freshly baked muffins, scones and pastries, fresh fruit and a hot entree. Freshly brewed coffee and herbed teas. Northeast Georgia is famous for its Orchards and Gardens – so we feature the freshest local produce, jams and fruits.
Afternoon Wine Tastings: Is it Wine-Thirty Yet? Join us between 5:30-6:00pm on our porch (or by our cozy wood fire during chilly weather) for a sampling of wonderful wines often accompanied by appetizers. We can also arrange tours to nearby wineries.

The Beechwood Inn offers Saturday Night Prix Fixe Chef's Tasting Dinners. This means the menu available each Saturday is pre-selected by our chefs based on what is seasonal and available that night. Limited substitutions can be made to the tasting menu if you let us know in advance of your dietary restrictions. Most of our seasonal foods are organic and natural, many from sustainable farms, orchards, dairies and vineyards. Due to the special nature of our foods and because of their higher cost advance reservations are needed. The Inn features Northeast Georgia's only Wine Spectator Award of Excellence wine list.
At Beechwood Inn we have an appreciation for our history, the region and traditional foodways. Food is needed by everyone, everywhere, every day. We believe that making shopping decisions that favor sustainable and local food sources, especially organic sources, benefits health, improves the local economy and is ecologically sound. We are proud of our local farmers and ranchers; their names dot our menus paying homage to those who have done the work to get such delicious ingredients through the kitchen door. Once through that door, respect and care for the ingredients play as important a role as the preparation of them. The goal of our chefs is to make as much of what is used from scratch as possible – we think that is what makes cuisine authentic. We trust you will appreciate our care and devotion to freshness.

Amaretto Chocolate Pots de Crème with White Chocolate Mousse
This is a wonderful rish dessert with layers of flavor added by the Amaretto Cookies and the White Chocolate Mousse.
Apple Butter Streusel Muffins
When it's Apple season in the North Georgia Mountains we enjoy fresh apples and also apple butter from nearby Chattooga Belle Farm. Here's a great apple muffin recipe:
Balsamic Glazed Quail Stuffed with Wild Mushroom and Ramps
At Beechwood inn we offer Wild Food Weekend events each spring and fall. Here is one of our recipes that incorporates a taste of the wild. These dinners showcase the gourmet possibilities of combining wild edibles with local farm produce.
Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup
We are happy each year when Chantarelles start to appear in our mountains. They are easy to identify and taste of the woodlands where they grow. We are especially happy if they appear during our wild foods events when we can take our guests into nearby woodlands and gather some for this hearty soup.
Garlic Scape Pesto
Garlic Scape Pesto: Garlic Scapes are the wild and curly shoots that spring from the tops of garlic plants. They're brilliantly green and grow corkscrewed.
They've got a mild garlic fragrance and a mellow garlic flavor. It's got a freshness that garlic loses as it develops. The scapes, which look as beautiful in the garden as they do at the market, are meant to be cut - cutting them strengthens the garlic bulbs that are growing underground - so it's a win-win for the garlic and us. We use the scapes as a garnish – just pour some olive oil on them, grill them until their crisp/limp and then lightly salt them. Saturday night we made scape pesto which we served on pan seared crab cakes. Last night Gayle and I used the rest of the scape pesto on pasta.
Scapes are fleeting, their only available about 10 days each year. Here’s my recipe for Scape Pesto:
Pan Seared Sea Scallops with Avocado-Corn Relish
I love fresh U-10 (Large) Sea Scallops. Be sure to ask your purveyor for "Dry" scallops, which means no preservatives have been injected. Scallops not guaranteed as "Dry" have been treated with a solution called STP (sodium tripolyphosphate), which helps the scallops maintain their moisture (they’re made up of about 75% water when fresh). The STP solution gives scallops a longer shelf life; they don’t dry out or lose their plump appearance. As a result, you’ll not only pay for the added water weight (and often get scallops that are less than fresh), but you’ll also have trouble browning these scallops—no matter how hot your pan or oven—because of all that excess moisture. The STP solution can also give scallops a rubbery texture and cloud the mollusk’s sweet, delicate flavor.
