The Pocono Mountains have a tremendous variety of attractions, from outdoor adventure to family attractions. Famous for its breathtaking views and rushing waterfalls, the Pocono Mountains are a perfect year round vacation spot. Enjoy the laurel blossoms that bloom in the spring or shop at the outlets, malls or specialty stores. Horseback riding, hiking the mountains, and biking the trails are just a few activities offered in the Pocono Mountains during summer and fall. Our surrounding mountians turn into a winter wonderland during the holiday and through January and February.  Enjoy many winter sports such as downhill skiing, snow tubing, snow boarding, ice-skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides and more.

On the French Manor's own grounds, there are miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, and cross- country skiing. Or you may wish to spend time in our cozy lounge downstairs, where you might read, watch television, or relax with good company and your favorite liqueur.

In the surrounding countryside, there are many scenic and recreational facilities. Lake Wallenpaupack (Pennsylvania's largest man-made lake), canoeing, boating, water skiing, fishing, championship golf courses, night clubs for dancing, horseback riding, theatres and summer playhouse, Pocono International Raceway, pleasant and rural drives, scenic train excursions, coal mine tours, antique and outlet shopping, state parks and lakes (Tobyhanna, Promised Land, and Gouldsboro - all within 15 minutes); additionally, there are cross country and downhill ski areas. As a guest of the French Manor, you are also welcome to enjoy any of the recreational facilities offered at our sister inn, The Sterling Inn. On 103 acres of landscaped lawns and gardens, woodlands and streams, The Sterling Inn offers Boating, Fishing, Scenic Hiking Trails, Nature Programs, Swimming, Lake, Indoor Pool and Spa, Tennis, Volleyball, Snow Tubing, Shuffleboard, Cross Country Skiing, Ski Shop, Ice Skating, Tobogganing, and Weekend Entertainment.
Activities:

  • Tennis: Located at our sister inn, The Sterling Inn. Simply reserve a time you wish to play. We even provide equipment free of charge.
  • Horseback Riding: Just a short drive from The French Manor. Ask the Innkeeper to make reservations for you. French Manor guests receive a discount.
  • Beach: Our sister inn, The Sterling Inn has a small lake with a beach area. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature.
  • Health Spa / Massage: To add to the enjoyment of your stay, treat yourself to a therapeutic massage. Our masseuse, Susan Lange, is certified in deep muscle massage & practices foot reflexology.
  • Biking: There are miles of back roads and trails on Huckleberry Mountain. Also, 3 nearby state parks offer excellent biking trails.
  • Swimming: Our sister inn, The Sterling Inn, has a glass-enclosed heated indoor pool. Changing facilities and pool towels are provided.
  • Boating: The Sterling Inn, our sister inn, offers paddle boats on their lake. Also, several lakes in the area offer boating, canoeing, swimming, etc.
  • Fishing: There is great trout fishing in the Wallenpaupack Creek which runs through The Sterling Inn's property. Also The Sterling Inn's lake is stocked with bass.
  • Hiking: The French Manor has miles of hiking trails.
  • Nature Preserves / Trails: Also we offer guided nature hikes at the Sterling Inn.
  • Fine Dining: A fine French Restaurant, the Manor serves a celebrated and authentic French cuisine, featuring Chef Kevin Conroy's gourmet creations. Attire--formal; jackets are required for men.
