  • Music Festivals/Concerts: Speaking of music, the hills are truly alive with the sound of music here. There's Monadnock Music host of internationally renown performances, Temple Band (the oldest in America) or Blues at the Rynborn. Occasionally if you stroll down the street to the vestry, stop in you'll be invited in to listen to the Hancock Bell Ringers. Or stop in for church on Sunday; there's a musical treat for you right there!
  • Apple Hill Chamber Players

Activities:

  • Golf: If it's a golf game you're after, the choices are many. For instance, there's Shattuck Inn, a PGA course located at the base of the mountain with sweeping views. The nearby Tory Pines course is also beautiful and has a great clubhouse for lunch. There are town tennis courts right down the street so bring your racket.
  • Canoeing/Kayaking: Eastern Mountain Sports can rent you a single or double Keowee kayak for great flatwater paddling on Powdermill Pond.
  • Swimming: If it's swimming you're looking for, Norway Pond is just at the end of the street with a beach, lifeguard and docks or sneak away with us to Willard Pond, an Audubon Sanctuary when you can quietly swim with the loons.
  • Shopping: Shopping here means stopping by the Sharon Arts Center and Gallery where fine local arts and crafts can be viewed and yes, purchased. Here on a country road you will find internationally know Gibson Pewter where Reverend Raymond Gibson and his son Jonathan graciously invite you to view their work in progress. Perhaps you will start your collection of tableware. Frye’s Measure Mill started business in 1750 on the edge of Mill Brook where it still stands. Frye's hand-crafted products are authentic survivors of early crafts. They are most well known for their beautiful Shaker boxes.
We all love Pickity Place! This hilltop hideaway was the model for the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Wander through the magical gardens. The greenhouse 270 varieties of herbs, perennials, and flowers. Explore the rustic gift shop filled with the spicy scents of potpourri. A 5-course gourmet luncheon is served each day accented with their home grown herbs. Let us make a reservation for you to assure you a table.
Harrisville is an 18th century textile village where a cluster of brick buildings and homes surround a mill pond. Here you will find Harrisville Designs and fine woolens, yarns, and looms and classes being taught by world-class weavers. A wonderful shop is open in Hancock, Green Acres over New England. This unique shop features fine European yarns and needlepoint. Her Christmas stockings with original designs are wonderful. Great antique shops are so plentiful in the region that we have a map to give you for just that purpose when you get here. There is a great shop here in town, Hardings of Hancock. At Old Town Antiques located on a hill above Peterborough, the view is so spectacular that you will want to start singing "The hills are alive with the sound of music..." The owner has kindly invited you to picnic there and we will be happy to provide the picnic (give a bit of notice, please).
  • Antique Shopping: If it's antiquing that interests you a must is the wonderful shops in Townsend Mass., only a half hour from us. One of the shops, Delaney’s, boasts the largest collection of tall cases (grandfather clocks) in the country and is well worth the visit
  • Farmer's Market: Seasonally you will be sure to enjoy McLeod’s Apple Orchard at the top of Norway Hill, just above the Inn. You can pick your own if you like.
  • Farms: In the winter the Joe and Ginny Merrion's Hilltop Farm is just a little further up the hill. You can cut down your tree. They will provide the saw, bag it, and mount it on your car. Stop and have a cup of hot chocolate with Joe and Ginny Merrion; they will enjoy meeting you.
  • Tours: The best way to see all of what the Monadnock Region has to offer is by taking a arial tour and or purchasing a print of your favorite spot by plane. NE Airphoto is the name of this company and the greatest part of all is that there is nothing commercial about them. Deb Porter Hayes is a friend and the photographer and Alfred Saywer has been piloting guests visiting the area for years. He has even been known to land right here on Norway pond.
