The area surrounding downtown Staunton offers extensive opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreational activities. Enjoy the Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge Parkway or the George Washington National Forest. You can plan time to enjoy hiking, biking, horsebackriding, and fly fishing. Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton is a perfect place to spend time with children.

Route 11, which runs north and south through the Shenandoah Valley, is often called Antique Alley, with antique store stretching from one end of the valley to the other.

  • Historic Sites: Staunton features five Historic Neighborhoods. The Beverly District, this compact urban area retains it's 19th century charm and "Main Street" ambience. One of Virginia's finest collection of Victorian era architecture. The Stuart Addition is a diverse older neighborhood that boasts a number of buildings listed in the National Register. The Gospel Hill district was named in the late 1790's when religious meetings where held at the local blacksmith's shop. The Wharf District began when the Virginia Central Railroad was built in 1854.
