Dining Information

Breakfast is served each morning between 8 and 9:30 AM in our sun-filled breakfast room.  Freshly cut fruit, juices and just baked sweet breads accompany a choice of four cooked entrees, including two egg and two  bread dishes, or homemade, low-fat granola.  Blueberry pancakes, Belgian waffles with strawberries, brie and sweet roasted red pepper omelets, and amaretto french toast are favorites among guests.  Locally raised ingredients, including Maine Maple Syrup, are featured, as well as, coffee from Maine roasted coffee beans.  Food allergies and restrictions are accommodated easily.

Afternoon pastry and hot and cold beverages are provided on a buffet in the breakfast room.  Tea service with a freshly brewed pot of tea is prepared individually.

Hors d'oeuvres are served in the living room or in the garden from 6 PM to 7 PM each evening. Selections highlight Maine seafood, local produce, and fine cheeses.   Wines by the glass, as well as, a full line of fine liquors are available.

The Inn was well known for many years for its  evening dinners and wine list.   Although evening dinners are no longer served, the popular wine dinners are still offered twice a year.  These multi-course events center around 5 carefully selected wines.  The six courses incorporate Maine seafood,  organic produce, herbs, meats, or fowl provided by a local network of  farmers and fishermen.

For six consecutive years the Inn received the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence for "... one of the world's outstanding restaurant wine lists."  Selections from that list of more than 100 are still available, including some older bordeaux, burgundies, and hermitage.  Wine loving guests love to hunt for treasures from the list.  Recent finds included a 1998 Beaucastel, a 1990 Hermitage LaChapelle, and a 1960 Barca Vehla.

Blue Hill village and the surrounding areas are dotted with excellent restaurants.  For fine dining, we recommend Arborvine Restaurant, www.arborvinerestaurant.com, just a block from the Inn, with superb food, wonderful ambiance, and impeccable service.  Advance reservations are necessary, which we will be happy to make for you.  FishNet is the choice for the best lobster roll around.  Check with us for other recommendations for casual fare or fine dining in the surrounding area.
