In each of the guest rooms there are writing desks stocked with stationary, postcards and pens, for jotting notes o a quick foray onto the internet with you laptop. Though this is a historic, romantic place, each room has access to a high speed internet connection and two phone lines, should you need them. On the walls there are original oil paintings and old equestrian prints; clothbound period novels and modern page-turners are stocked on the bookshelves or the mantle. Tall paned bedroom windows are framed by painted wood shutters, which can be pulled wide to the air and sunlight outside, or closed tight to shut in the soft dark of the Southern night. There is a feeling here of a grand private house, of a place homey yet supremely special.
