About This Property

Comfortably elegent, the Inn offers numerous common areas and 3 acres of landscaped grounds for your enjoyment. The only Inn in the entire region to provide fine dining and full liquor service, Abingdon Manor is truely an extraordinary experience.

The Library
A cozy area just off the main hall provides a quiet spot for reading, relaxing and enjoying a glass of sherry. Guests are welcome to take a book from the extensive collection and return it to the Inn when finished.

Entrance Hall
Forty feet by twenty feet this room provides an impressive entry to the Inn and connects the four main rooms on the first floor. Each Christmas a majestic twelve foot tree sparkles at the base of the staircase. The focal point of this oversized reception hall is a 18th Century French Pier mirror towering to the ceiling height.

Upstairs Sitting Room
Between the Green and Yellow Rooms at the end of the upstairs hall is a sitting area with two comfortable couches. The ten foot French doors open on to the front balcony with additional seating overlooking the front lawn and historic Church Street.

The Ladies Parlor
Often the site for evening refreshments, this parlor features a white on white fireplace mantle of carved wood and ceramic tile. The intriguing three foot door next to the fireplace operates without hinges and connects through a closet into the dining room.

The Gentlemens Parlor
The cranberry colored walls and elegant furnishings of this room create the setting for an intimate dinner for two, small private parties, corporate retreats or large receptions. The original eight foot beveled glass mirror faces it’s twin across the entry hall in the ladies parlor.

The Grounds
Abingdon Manor enhances the entrance to one of Latta's three National Register historic residential districts. The property is an entire city block, encompassing more than three acres. The porches and verandahs put a southern trademark on the otherwise European style facade. The rockers and shaded alcoves beckon visitors to sit and relax.

Just outside the kitchen door is the herb garden. This area attracts both guests and butterflies and adds flavor and color to many of the meals prepared at Abingdon Manor.

The island under the enormous papershell pecan tree on the southwest lawn is a gathering place for evening refreshments. Dappled sunlight, a comfortable adirondack chair, a tall glass of homemade lemonade and a novel is an Abingdon Manor recipe for a nap.

A number of seating areas in the yard and on the porches are perfect for an alfresco dining, when weather permits.
