- Rock Bridge State Park: While walking the half-mile Devil’s Icebox Boardwalk, visitors will pass both under and over the rock bridge, have the opportunity to explore Connor’s
Cave on their own, and see an underground stream, small spring
and sinkhole. The 15 miles of trails that traverse the 2,273-acre
park are always open to hikers and are conditionally open to
bicyclists. Hikers and horseback riders can enjoy the serenity
of the 750-acre Gans Creek Wild Area. Before riding, visitors
should call the trail condition hotline.

operation, the man-made landscape of Finger Lakes State Park
has been transformed into a recreational area providing a variety
of amusement options. The more than 70 miles of off-road motorcycle
and all-terrain vehicle trails and motocross track attract
people from around the country. A one-and-a-half mile-long
corridor of water, ideal for canoeing, fishing, swimming and
scuba diving, features a large sand swimming beach.

six-acre, Missouri Indian earthwork construction of unknown
purpose. The park is characterized by stately black walnut
and oak trees situated in the hilly terrain along the margin
of the Missouri River floodplain. The 983-acre park has a visitor
center, campground, picnic area, hiking trails and an 18-acre
fishing lake.

of a quiet village, then Arrow Rock is the place for you. Once
a thriving riverport, the town is dotted with architectural
treasures from the past. Limestone gutters of carefully carved
blocks line the main street, marking the toil of earlier generations.
Wooden sidewalks and overhead canopies still line store fronts,
recalling the grace and aura of times long past. The entire
town of Arrow Rock was designated a National Historic Landmark
in 1964.

Daniel Boone, formed a partnership with James and Jesse Morrison
in 1805 to produce salt. Brine water was poured into iron kettles
and heated to boiling on a stone furnace. As the water evaporated,
salt crystallized in the bottom of the
kettle. The salt was shipped by keelboat on the Missouri River
to St. Louis. Salt, which was indispensable at the time for
preserving meat and tanning hides, was produced at the site
until approximately 1833.
