The Parlor

The charming WhiteGate Inn offers today's comforts with yesterday's ambiance. The Inn is furnished with period antiques, fine furniture, and collectibles.

You are welcomed into the parlor, which features one of the Inn’s three original fireplaces. The mantle is home to a collection of antique German Beer Steins. Relax in one of the parlor chairs and view the contemporary original oil painting entitled “A Still Wind Blows” that was done by Elizabeth Versace for the Inn.

● Cable TV, VCR and CD player ● A game table and an assortment of board games including Chess, Backgammon and Checkers.  There is a  wide selection of local and national magazines, a library with a large selection of books, VCR tapes and CDs.  The Rock-Ola jukebox for your listening pleasure

The Living Room

The Living room is warm and inviting with a comfortable sofa and wing back chairs, a fireplace for the warm glow in the fall and winter, and a respite from the every day stress.

You can enjoy playing checkers or backgammon at our game table or simply curl up with a book or magazine while listening to the 1904 Baby Grand player piano.

The living room area has a unique collection of art glass, family antiques and other fine collectibles, making it a welcoming area for afternoon and evening refreshments.

White Gate Solarium

Relax in the spacious solarium overlooking the cascading waterfalls, Koi pond, gas–log fire pit and downtown Asheville, and the beautiful backdrop of the mountains.

Enjoy an evening beverage while listening to vintage 45's on our Rock~Ola Wurlitzer Juke Box and admire the colorful sunsets.

Only Asheville garden to win in two categories, "2002 Best Water Garden" & "2003 Best Landscape Garden" Men's Garden Club & Quality Forward Annual Contest

The award-winning gardens of the 1889 WhiteGate Inn & Cottage have an extensive collection of unusual plants. These include 18 varieties of Japanese maples and over 300 different varieties of perennials, hostas, roses, and herbs. The greenhouse houses a collection of over 1500 orchids and tropicals. Paths and sitting areas throughout the gardens make the grounds a perfect place to wander stress free or sit and meditate among nature's beauty and abundance.

Greenhouse/Conservatory

Wander through our large greenhouse filled with blooming orchids and tropicals, the site of The WhiteGate Inn's horticultural seminar series. Seminars will be offered on successfully growing orchids, perennial and herb gardens, innovative garden design, floral arranging, creating backyard wildlife habitats, and much more.

Relax among the tropical plants and enjoy the scent of fragrant orchids, while listening to the sound of gently trickling fountains. Take pleasure in reading a book, perusing a magazine or gather for refreshments with other guests among the unique collection of plants.

Our greenhouse supplies blooming orchids, fresh flowers, and foliage plants used in our guestrooms and throughout the Inn.
