- Hiking: Outside the Inn, guests may hike the many scenic trails of Matthiessen, Starved Rock and Buffalo Rock State Parks that are in the area.
- Horseback Riding: Guests can rent a horse at the Starved Rock Stables and ride the State Park trails.
- Biking: The Illinois & Michigan Canal offers miles of hiking and biking trails.
- Golf: Many golf courses are located near the Inn and we will be happy to reserve a tee time for you.
- Rafting: Illinois, Vermillion and Fox Rivers.
- Fishing: Illinois, Vermillion and Fox Rivers.
- Boating: Illinois, Vermillion and Fox Rivers.
- Skiing - Cross Country: During the winter months, Matthiessen Park rents cross-country skis and has miles of skiing trails.
- Antique Shopping: along the countryside or in the nearby towns
- Wildlife Watching: Naturalists will enjoy the many species of flora and fauna both on our 14 acres of land and in the nearby parks.
