- The John McFadden Model Railroad Collection: located on the Mercersburg Academy campus(5 min. max),The East Broad Top Railroad is approx.30 min. from the inn.
- Cowans Gap State Park
- James Buchannan State Park
- Totem Pole Playhouse: It is a bit farther away(30 min.), but it's worth it.
- Cinema: Hagerstown, MD, and Chambersburg, PA, are all about the same distance away.

Activities:
- Horseback Riding: Horseback riding is only minutes away. Reservations are required.
- Skiing - Downhill: Whitetail Ski Resort is a great place to ski with 17 trails and a vertical drop of 935 ft. It is 6 miles from the inn.
- Health Spa / Massage: We provide in-room massages. Reservations are required. Sixty minutes $75.00; 90 minutes $95.00.
- Swimming: Swimming at Cowan's Gap is a great place to spend an afternoon or whole day.
- Boating: Paddle boat rental is available at Cowan's Gap.
- Children's Activities: The Mercersburg Academy provides children's summer programs. Basketball camps, ecology camps are just a few. The kids stay in the dorm rooms on campus.
- Fishing: Fly fishing at Whitetail Ski Resort or fishing at Cowan's Gap. Whitetail provides lessons, guide service, meals, equipment & the best trout fishing in the US.
- Hiking: Hiking trails at Cowans Gap; lift to hiking at Whitetail as well as many more hiking options nearby.
- Nature Preserves / Trails: The trails as specified before are great; the scenery is beautiful.
- Fine Dining: We provide candle-light dinners on Thurs., Fri., Sat., and Sun. Reservations are recommended. There are two other restaurants in Mercersburg or explore nearby towns.
- Golf: Major golf opportunities at Whitetail Resort, Greencastle Greens and Cove Gap.
- Skiing - Cross Country: Located in Cowans Gap State Park, there are 10 miles of trails. There are both beginner and advanced trails.
- Billiards: We provide a pool table, television and other games in our Game Room.
- Shopping: There are many interesting shops in local villages accessible during daytrips.There is an outlet center in nearby Hagerstown.
- Antique Shopping: Many opportunities such as Fulton Antiques and Greencastle Antique Mall. Information is available at the inn.
- Lake / River / Ocean: Cowan's Gap is a lake located in the mountains.see beach/boating
- Outlet Stores: Hagerstown Outlets are new and have great shopping.
- Ski Area: Whitetail Ski Resort.
