Whether your pleasure is a holiday filled with activity or one of complete relaxation, you will enjoy your visit to the Manor On Golden Pond. Here are some suggestions of things to do around our Country Inn or the Lakes Region and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Whatever your choice, remember Tea will be served at 4:00pm and be sure to stop by the Inn's cozy Three Cocks Pub before dinner.

At The Manor:

Many guests find so much to do here, they spend their entire holiday at The Manor. On our fourteen-acre estate are clay tennis courts, croquet, badminton, and a delightful outdoor pool.

One of our favorite spots is the three-acre beach across the road from the Manor house. There you can relax in the sun, paddle Squam Lake in one of The Manor's canoes or paddleboats, fish or simply savor the tranquility of the lake from our boathouse. This special place isn't just for sunny summer days; it has a certain mystique in the early morning when the mist rises over the lake, and at dusk, when the haunting cry of the loon floats cross the water.

Area Activities:

As we found when we first visited The Manor, long before we purchased it, the Squam Lake area really is the perfect vacation destination. Below are just a few of the many activities available. If you have a special interest or wish further suggestions, just let us know.

Activities:

  • Golf: Owl's Nest Golf Club
  • Hiking: We are located in the Squam Mountain Range with a variety of hikes available. Plus hike to to the top of Mount Washington just north of us.
  • Horseback Riding
  • Biking
  • Skiing - Downhill: In the winter, there are five ski areas within 30 minutes from the Inn.
  • Skiing - Cross Country
  • Antique Shopping
  • Shopping: For New Hampshire made items, visit Pepi Herrmann's Studio, a glassblower specializing in dishes and stemware. Be sure to venture to Sandwich, a local art community where the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen began, for a browse through the craft shops. If you have an interest in quilts, you'll find heaven at Keepsake Quilting . Their quilting mail-order company in Center Harbor is complete with a company store featuring yarns and fabrics to satisfy every taste.
  • Boat cruises: During the summer and fall you can take a sightseeing boat around Squam Lake to see the sites featured in the film "On Golden Pond." (For a copy of that Academy Award winning film, visit our Gift Shop.) The 260 foot m/s Mount Washington cruises the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee; it docks in Weirs Beach and Center Harbor, both a few minutes' drive from The Manor.
