- Museums/Galleries: Many Historical Societies, Art & Craft Galleries in the many rural towns surrounding Windham Hill.

- Green Mountain National Forest: about 15 miles away

Activities:
- Tennis: Vermont clay court right here at the Inn.
- Hiking: We have extensive hiking trails on site (be sure to pick up our hiking map) as well as many more hiking options nearby.
- Fishing: West River is right down the hill and the Battenkill about half an hour away. No assurances on results other than good arm exercise!
- Horseback Riding: & Sleigh Rides: We send many guests to ''Horses for Hire'' a stable in the nearby town of Peru. Several other options include the ''Sun Bowl Ranch'' at Stratton Mountain.
- Beach: A real sandy beach in the Townshend Lake recreation area behind Townshend Dam.
- Health Spa / Massage: MASSAGE!!! right in your room is available by prior reservation. Let us know when, we'll make the arragements.
- Biking: Many beautiful routes for both mountain and road bikers, though hard to avoid hills! Nearby rentals. Mount Snow and Stratton both feature 'downhill biking'.
- Swimming: Beautiful pool on-site!
- Nature Preserves / Trails: Nearby Townshend Lake Recreation Area and Green Mountain National Forest feature nature trails and ranger guided hikes in season.

- Skiing - Cross Country: As you might expect from an inn on 160 acres of Green Mountain hillside, we DO offer Cross Country Skiing right here at Windham Hill (Go here to download a trail map). We mark about 10 km of trails with our snowmobile and we offer complimentary use of our somewhat limited equipment inventory. If you yearn for the elegant tracked trails only possible with professional grooming equipment, there are many local options (Windham Hill favorites listed below), most well within a half hour’s drive. For current conditions at most Southern Vermont XC ski centers go here.
For those interested in back country skiing, there are many more options in nearby State Parks and the Green Mountain National Forest.

Grafton Ponds Recreation Center is open in the summer for mountain biking on its nordic ski trails. Bike rentals available. Open Sat. & Sun. from Memorial Day through end of October. Appts. can be made by calling our phone number. Located just south of Grafton center on the Townshend Road (abuts the Grafton Village Cheese Company).
Stratton - XC Skiing

Stratton offers two cross-country skiing facilities: The Nordic Center at the Country Club, and The Sun Bowl Nordic Center. Both are groomed by a state-of-the-art Bombardier groomer to provide tracks and skating lanes on every trail. Both facilities rent equipment, with lessons available at the Country Club. Viking Nordic Centre

Viking Nordic Centre is one of the oldest cross-country ski centers in North America. With 40 kilometers of trails they offer something for every skier. From the rolling gentle terrain of the inner trail system to the long loops through the woods of the outer trail system, beginners and experts can find terrain that will both please and challenge them depending on their desire.
Daily in winter, conditions permitting. Trails close at 4:30pm North from Inn on Windham Hill Road to Rt 11. West (left) on Rt 11 about 4 miles. Look for sign.
Wild Wings Ski Touring Center

Small family oriented skiing. Through woods, along brooks. Snow pocket location. One way trails system alleviates congestion. Snow Cat grooming on 24km of trails. Follow signs approaching Peru on Rt. 11 - Shopping: Many interesting shops in local villages accessible during daytrips. Designer outlet shopping in Manchester 30 minutes away.
- Antique Shopping: Many opportunities in the West River Valley. Map and guide available at the the Inn.
- Lake / River / Ocean: Swimming and boating on the West River. Lake and beach in the Townsend Dam Recreation Area.
- Outlet Stores: many, in Manchester.
- Ski Area: We offer a very attractive alternative to those desiring to ski at a world class ski resort but would prefer not to stay at one. From our scenic mountainside location, you can pick from four mountains, each less than 30 minutes away. From here, you can be on the slopes at nine or nine-thirty and not miss a bite of the gourmet breakfast we serve each morning.
