Preheat oven to 400o.
Combine cranberries with 2 Tbs. sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, combine
in large bowl flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut the butter into
the flour mixture using a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
In another bowl combine eggs, vanilla, orange juice and orange peel. Add egg
mixture to flour mixture and stir. Dough will be sticky. Lightly flour hands
and knead in cranberry and nuts. Pat dough into a 9-inch circle on a greased
baking sheet. Cut into wedges and brush with egg white-water glaze.
Bake 20 - 25 minutes.
