THE CEREMONY We make it our goal to help you create the country wedding you've been dreaming of since you were a girl. From small intimate gatherings to festive outdoor affairs you can be sure that no detail will be overlooked.
THE RECEPTION When you combine our storybook setting with our acclaimed American regional cuisine you have the foundation for a truly memorable occasion.
We have several sample menus for you to peruse to get an idea of what's possible, but each reception is unique and we'll happily discuss additional options for your event. Our Reception and Event Pricing Guidelines is posted for your convenience.
Our green house dining room and cozy tavern are suited for gatherings of up to 75 people with a dance floor, or up to 100 people without dancing. Outdoor receptions can accommodate 50-220 guests.

Our deluxe rooms and suites each offer gathering places for party-goers to get together throughout their stay. Special Events at a Glance
BARROWS HOUSE, located in picturesque Dorset, Vermont, is the perfect place for hosting weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners and private parties of all kinds. We are situated on eleven park-like acres with wonderful English gardens and a romantic gazebo. We specialize in both indoor and outdoor receptions. (See chart below.) There is no additional fee for using our property.
INDOOR EVENTS Indoor seating for rehearsal dinners, receptions, and other types of private parties is available for 10-100 people. Seating is divided among our three dining spaces - the Greenhouse (25-30 people), the adjacent Main Dining Room (50-60 people), and the Tavern (20-24 people). The Greenhouse is cleared when dancing is requested.
OUTDOOR EVENTS Outdoor receptions for 50-220 people are possible on our property. We rent all the china, glassware, silver, tables, chairs, and linens (if requested) along with the tents to provide security against the rain. Rental expenses vary depending on the size of the reception. For any event requiring a tent, there is a flat charge of $10.00 per person in addition to your food and liquor costs.

Selection of passed hor d'oeuvres appetizer and/or salad course homemade bread and rolls main course vegetables & starch WEDDING CAKE: $3.-$3.50 per person LIQUOR: $5.50 to $9.00 per drink Liquor is charged on a per drink basis WINE & CHAMPAGNE: $20.00 and up per bottle Charged on a per bottle basis All food, liquor, wine and champagne costs are subject to 20% gratuity charge and appropriate state taxes. (9% for food and 10% for liquor and wine.)
We have a referrals list for flowers, music, photography and churches and will glady assist you with these items.
There are certain times of year when our rooms are traditionally booked and we do not hold special evening events in our dining room. Afternoon events and tent receptions are almost always an option, in season. If you have taken over the whole inn with your guests and it is not a peak weekend, it is easier for us to close our dining room for your private party, as you will not be displacing other houseguests. This is a slightly complex subject, and thus one handled on a case by case basis.
