- Dorset Playhouse: Actor's Equity productions of 6 plays mid-June through Labor Day Weekend. Amateur productions and concerts at other times.
- Merck Forest and Farmland Center: 3100+ acres of hiking/cross country ski trails, organic farming, heirloom animals, primitive camping, seminars and demonstrations.
- Hildene: The Robert Todd Lincoln estate filled with Lincoln family treasures. Many events throughout the year. Amazing peony gardebs,
- Bennington Museum: Wonderful collection of early Americana, famous Bennington flag, largest collection of Grandma Moses.

- Park-McCullough House: Fine example of Second Empire style "summer cottage". Open late May to late October.
- Clark Art Institute: Art museum, research center and library. A rural American treasure that will amaze you.
- Shelburne Museum: The Smithsonian of the North.

- Tennis: Volley with your spouse on one of our two tennis courts.
- Golf: Barrows House can get you tee times at three local golf courses, all 10 to 35 minutes from the inn.
- Shopping: auctions, flea markets, estate sales, art galleries, craft centers and upscale outlet shopping.
- Horseback Riding: Three riding centers within 30 minutes. Reservations required. Five week long horse show in East Dorset every summer.
- Fishing: Trout fishing on the famed Battenkill and Mettowee Rivers are found close by. Guides available.
- Hiking: Hiking trails abound throughout the area for all levels of hiking ability.
- Skiing - Cross Country: In the winter, our cross-country skis are available to our guests for use in the local area. Four fine touring areas nearby.
- Antique Shopping: Fine antiques shops and multi-dealer centers abound. Several fine shops within minutes from the inn including antique quilt shop.
- Biking: Classic Bikes are available at the inn for our guests. Mountain bikes may be rented in nearby Manchester.
- Skiing - Downhill: In winter, the downhill runs of Bromley and Stratton are within a short drive, and we strongly recommend the special pleasures to be found in ski touring. A wide variety of trails and terrains are available within a short distance.
- Theater: Dorset Playhouse with actors' equity summer season mid June through Labor Day Weekend. Two blocks from the inn.
- Sleigh Rides: Sleigh rides available by reservation from several providers.
- Airplane Rides
- Artists: Artists and craftsmen are everywhere. Memorial Day Weekend is Open Studio Tour throughout Vermont. Many are available by appointment at other times.
- Children's Activities: Bromley Thrill Zone, Butterfly Farm, Montshire Museum of Science, The Children's Museum at Saratoga, Billings Farm Museum, Bennington Museum, Merck Forest and Farmland Center and lots of outdoor sports by season.
- Ice-skating: Available in winter at Olympic sized Riley Rink for indoor skating or outdoors at Dorset's Prestiss Pond, weather permitting.
- Ski Area: There are five major ski areas from 15 to 60 minutes from the inn.
- Water Sports: Boat rentals at nearby Lake St. Catherine. Tubing or canoeing on the Battenkill.
- Train Ride: There are 3 scenic train excursions in the area. They run through the summer and fall.
- Nature Preserves / Trails: Merck Forest and Farmland Center is a 3000+ acre preserve for hiking and primitive camping. The Long Trail spur of the Appalachian Trail is just a few miles from the inn. Green Mountain National Forest. Much more.
- Historic Sites: Revolutionary War historic sites: Bennington Monument, Saratoga battleground, Fort Ticonderoga, Hubbardton. Hildene, the Robert Todd Lincoln estate. Parke-McCullough House.
