Our schedule of Murder Mysteries at the inn runs from November to April.
We can also arrange a private murder mystery for 8 - 12 couples. They can be for single nights or two night packages.
How does a murder mystery evening work? Each mystery has a theme and our guests are encouraged to get in the spirit of the evening by dressing in an appropriate costume. Actors play the lead roles and direct the evening's entertainment. We send letters to our guests ahead of time to tell them a little about the plot and their character. There are no lines to memorize. At the end of the evening everybody will be given the opportunity to solve the mystery. Prizes are given for the best and worst answers!! As you can see, all our plots are very tongue-in-cheek and shouldn't be taken seriously.
You can choose any of the following plots:
The Freda Love and Skip Moore Wedding: It's 1967 and Freda and Skip are about to consummate their impending nuptials. What could possibly go wrong on a beautiful day like this? Well, we don't call it a Murder Mystery for nothing. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something in a body bag. Join the wedding party for an evening of love, laughs, and loaded weapons.
Class of 1969 Reunion: The kids are all grown up now and are heading back to Barry Manilow Memorial High School for their class reunion. Hope you were paying attention in math class so you can count the survivors! This class has some secrets that make for an evening of whodunnit fun. Think of it as "Carrie" meets "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".
Royal Order of the Ocelots: This back-woodsy group of good old boys and girls are getting together for their monthly lodge meeting. But there is deception in the ranks as the men vie for the top-dog leader position of "Big Lot". Soon they start taking sides and the ruse begins. Darrell, Darrell, and brother Larry look like the country club set compared to these folks. Come early for the possum stew.
Death Imitates Art: Attend the grand opening of the newest and chicest art gallery in town. A pretentious artist, an overbearing agent, and a room full of critics lead to an evening of murder, mayhem and Monet. Guess who did which, when, and with what! This just may be why Mona Lisa lost her smile! But no matter what....somebody is going to get framed.
Terms and policies: Weekends at the inn are our busiest times. When we agree to hold the inn for a weekend date for a private group, we will turn away other business for that date. We have fixed costs for a murder mystery that are split between the rooms and that have to be paid even if some of the guests cancel. These are the reasons for our specific schedule of deposits and refund policies. If you are making reservations for a group of friends we highly recommend that you have them contact us individually to arrange their own payments. This allows them to use credit cards if they wish and relieves you of the responsibility of collecting deposits on time, or having to pay for somebody who backs out.
Please note that all deposits should be considered non-refundable. If anybody in your group has to cancel, it is their responsibility to find somebody to take their place, or be prepared to forfeit their deposits.
Payment and deposit schedule: 3 months ahead of the murder mystery - 50% non-refundable deposit for each room 30 days ahead - payment in full required. For cancellations 7 - 30 days ahead of the date, we will refund the meal charges. For cancellations within 7 days there are no refunds.
Charges for Private Murder Mysteries: The cost for a private murder mystery party is $250 plus the costs of the individual rooms. Included in the room charges are dinner and breakfast for two guests. Please note that the cottages are not available for groups booking fewer than 11 rooms.
