Dining Information

Wake up and let the smell of our own blend of freshly brewed coffee entice you to our breakfast table. Inn specialties might include cinnamon raisin French toast stuffed with strawberry cream cheese, eggs Florentine, pastries, quiche, and fruit compotes from the garden. Our menus are only limited by Debbie's imagination. She has collected and created recipes with a Pennsylvania Dutch flair, as well as, incorporating Swiss, German and Austrian touches. Birchermuesli, a Swiss fruit and yogurt dish, is an inn specialty full of strawberries and red raspberries fresh from the garden. In Autumn, when the leaves are bursting with color, apples from our orchard are steamed with lemon and brandy - the perfect accompaniment to our pumpkin pancakes. Whatever the season, good conversation and exceptional food - there is no better way to start your day!

The Cookie Jar is an important place here at the inn. For many, it is the first stop after checking in! Enjoying a hot cup of coffee with the daily cookie on the patio is one of those special treats. We vary the cookies, often coming up with new combinations and flavors. Several come directly from Switzerland, like the “dead bones" we are famous for. (Dead Bones "Totenbeinle" are a crisp hazelnut bar.) On this page we will share some of our secrets-recipes that our guests beg for. Snickerdoodles will start the list. These cookies are a Lancaster County tradition and a staple in our cookie jar. Ours are soft and chewy-a result of slightly under baking the cookies. They freeze beautifully too. Please, please don't try to cut corners by using margarine! These cookies need real butter.
