Local Attraction

We feel that the Crown Jewell of our national park system is Rocky Mountain National Park. The scenery is breath taking. Wildlife is abundant in the mountain valleys. Herds of mule deer, a solitary coyote, a chattering chipmunk, a furry marmot on an avalanche slope or big horn sheep just off the road on Trail Ridge await your discovery. In late September to October the elk rut is the main event at the time of fall folage. 800 lb bull elk match their strength to one another for the favors of the females on the forest edge. The park entrance is just a few minutes away from the inn. But once in the park its timelessness is awe-inspiring. The last ice age 50,000 years ago left its impressions on this part of the earth evidenced by deep river canyons, pyramid mountaintops, hanging glacier lakes and flower filled tundra meadows. And all are approachable from the 260 miles of park hiking trails. Some trail elevations reach over 14,000 feet on the summit of Longs Peak. Do you think you could have an exciting vacation in our mountain community? I’ll bet that you will. In the town of Estes Park you will find a starbucks for those who crave familiarity.
