  • Wine Country: To make the most of your Virginia wine experience, we recommend that you visit Prince Michel and Barboursville together, as well as Veritas and King Family, as they are in close proximity to one another. During some wine festivals you may find local or regional beer tastings, made right here in the Shenandoah Valley.
 
Activities:

  • Hiking: Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive: As you enter Shenandoah National Park via the spectacular Skyline Drive, take in the roadside wildflowers, while sighting deer in their natural habitat. . Along the drive, you’ll come across 75 overlooks each carefully planned and built by Franklin Roosevelt’s depression era Civilian Conservation Corps. Incredible rock walls, along with abundant trees and flora, create the wonder of the Shenandoah’s Skyline Drive. Blue Ridge Parkway The Blue Ridge Parkway begins at MP 0 between Waynesboro and Afton in Virginia, at the southern end of the 105 miles of Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park. The Parkway’s terminus is at MP 469 in western North Carolina in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Parkway is at Afton Mountain, approximately 35 minutes from JWH.
  • Biking: The Shenandoah Valley is a perfect place to go for a bike ride. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cyclist, there is a good trail for just about everyone. Even if you did not bring your bike, you can rent one at Shenandoah Bicycle Company just up the road from JWH. They are extremely knowledgeable about biking, especially the best places to go around Harrisonburg. As an added bonus, there is an off-road course set up at Hillandale Park, just 1.5 miles from JWH.
  • Skiing - Cross Country: Massanutten Resort: Whether you enjoy skiing, golfing, hiking or just relaxing, Massanutten Resort is the perfect family vacation location.   • Movie Theater: Court Square Theater in downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia is a non-profit venue for the arts. The theater brings live music, film, theater, and some dance. Located in downtown Harrisonburg at our court square indoor plaza. Regal Cinemas, this is a 14 screen movie theater offers visitor's stadium seating and digital surround sound.
