Recipe courtesy of Glen-Ella Springs
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (heaping spoonful)
- 1 teaspoon salt (heaping spoonful)
- 2 sticks butter (unsalted)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (heaping spoonful)
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups (or more) semi-sweet or milk-chocolate chips
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In another large mixing bowl, beat butter until soft and creamy. Gradually add granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth.
Add egg and beat until combined. Add flour gradually and beat until combined – the mixture will appear dry.
Mix in the chocolate chips with a wooden spoon until combined.
Drop by large teaspoons onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Keep cookies 2 inches apart or they will bake together.
Bake for approximately 8_ minutes. "Slam" the cookie sheet on the stovetop to flatten the cookies prior to transfer to cooking rack.
Note: Cookies are still really gooey when they first come out of the oven. Takes a minute or two before you can put on cooling rack.
