Costumes of Downton Abbey

3/29/2014 Send to a Friend

The only U.S. exhibition of the Costumes of Downton Abbey opens March 1 and runs through January 4, 2015 at Winterthur, the 175 room mansion of Henry Francis Dupont.  For all you Abbey fans, this is your opportunity to see Lady  Edith's wedding dress, the elaborate dresses of Violet, the Dowager Countess, and many other costumes.  The exhibit is over 7000 square feet and includes some of the staff from downstairs as well as photographs.  You may also tour the DuPont mansion and compare the life of the Crawley family in England with a weathy American family of the same period.  Although Winterthur has a Wilmington, De. address they are only about a 20-25 minute drive from Hamanassett.   To enhance your visit, Hamanassett is offering an Edwardian inspired picnic lunch for dining on the grounds of Winterthur or to have delivered to your room that evening.   Winterthur expects over 100,000 people will visit this exhibit and strongly recommends purchasing tickets in advance.   Cost of the picnic basket for 2 people is $45.00.  See our web site for more details.

Admission $20.00
